Homemade Ginger Ale for Throat & Digestion

When your throat feels strained, digestion feels off, or your body needs gentle support, homemade ginger ale offers a natural, soothing alternative to store-bought versions filled with artificial sweeteners and carbonation overload.

This version is brewed slowly with real ginger and sweetened lightly, making it especially comforting during flare-ups, vocal strain, headaches, and digestive discomfort. It’s warming, grounding, and easy to customize.

INGREDIENTS & WHY THEY’RE USED

  • 1 cup fresh ginger, grated
Traditionally used to soothe digestion, reduce throat irritation, and warm the body.
  • 4 cups water
Creates a gentle infusion without overpowering the system.
  • ¼–½ cup raw honey or maple syrup
Honey coats the throat; maple syrup offers a lighter alternative.
  • Sparkling water
Adds light effervescence without harsh carbonation.
  • Lemon slices (optional)
    Adds brightness and supports hydration.

HOW TO MAKE

  1. Add grated ginger and water to a saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil, then simmer 15–20 minutes.
  3. Strain out ginger.
  4. Stir in honey or maple syrup while warm.
  5. Cool completely.
  6. To serve: mix ½ ginger syrup with sparkling water.
